Field Day 2009

The 5th field day that was held in cooperation with the BASF and the trials station „Queckbrunnenhof“ was again a complete success.

The extensive open field assortment of lettuces, kohl rabis, radishes, herbs, cauliflowers and  spring onions were presented on a large trials area. 

Eazy Leaf – a very promising new product fron Enza zaden was especially highlighted. It was shown in a practical demonstration how, in one operation using a mecanical harvester, high quality leaves and with a small cutting surface and ready for the plate, could be harvested. The demonstration with the harvester was held twice on the field day and attracted a great deal of interest.

Nearly the whole fruit vegetable assortment was presented in the green house with a special eye being paid to the innovative new breed “Sweet Green”; a blocky green pepper that tastes just as sweet as a fully ripe pepper. Enza Zaden won with this product, the Innovation Award at this years Fruit Logistica. 

 

The herbs assortment  packed as bundels and in pots were also presented. An information stand to demonstrate breeding work rounded up the show in the green house.

Over 650 visitors from Germany and many european countries gladly took the opportunity of the information on offer; an obligation for us to prepare with just as much enthusiasm for the field day next year.
